Laxminarayan Mahavidyalaya was dream child of a
group of dedicated persons who desires to provide a
scope of higher education to aspiring youth of the
locality, which is situated at a distance of about
40 Kms from district headquarters of the M.D.R. from
Basta to Baliapal just in the middle. Originally
named as Panchayat Samiti College in 1976, later
renamed as Akshay Narayan Praharaj Smruti
Mahavidyalaya, has assumed the present name because
it was rescued from fiscal breakdown by a generous
contribution of Rs. 50,000/- from Mr. Narayan Jena
of Nepura, Ex-Reader in Oriya, Fakir Mohan College,
Balasore.
The
contribution of the then minister Mr. Bhopal Ch.
Mohapatra & Present Minister Mr. R. N. Mohanty are
also Significant. In spite of all set-backs the
college owes its existence and boasts itself of
brilliant academic excellence. Hos. teaching
facility is available in History, Political Science,
Sanskrit, Education & Economics at present at +3
Arts stage and Math, Physics and Zoology Hons. at +3
Science Stage and +2 wing has both Arts & Science
streams. The Student strength is about 1500 now.
About 30 efficient teachers along with 25
non-teaching personnel help to run the college
smoothly. It is also a matter of pride that our
college has been accredited 'B' Grade by NAAC in the
